Shift: Days, 7a-7p, 12×3, 36 hours per week

Special Requirements:
Acute psych unit treating children ages 6-17 with medical complexity for depression, disruptive behavior, autism spectrum, psychosis, eating disorders, conduct disorder, suicidal ideation and other medical conditions (i.e., Type 1 Diabetes, for example). Higher medical acuity than many behavioral health units typically have. **NG tubes, frequent calculations for diabetic care, carbohydrate/calorie/formula calculations routinely required for patient care delivery.
High acuity, typically full census – **Travelers will work primarily in a medical capacity (not just behavioral health capacity) – wound care, diabetic calculations, NG tubes, etc.
Candidates must have at least limited Psych Experience. Please screen those with limited Peds/Ado Psych experience.
Experience with PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) preferred.
Three zones of care 1. Adolescent Program 2. Autism zone 3. Child Program
***No seclusion room and very limited use of restraints. Must be comfortable working with a “continuum of interventions†to manage disruptive behaviors. Staff carry walkie talkies for communication and escalation of risk.
**staffing ratios include “mental health specialists†and RNs. .RNs are not responsible for all care just the care that requires RN involvement , focused assessments, meds, wound care etc.
**Families are involved in care.
Wound Care & Assessment Skills required
Pediatric Population Experience preferred
Therapeutic communication skills needed, must be comfortable working with children. Manager is open to considering RNs who have limited pediatric background or behavioral health.
