Job Description

Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN – PCU 6N 48’s
Shift: Days, 7a-7:30p, 12×4, 48 hrs per week, Will also consider 36hrs
Length: 13 Weeks
Requirements:
  • IN or Compact License
  • 2 years PCU experience preferred
  • Charge Experience
  • BLS, ACLS
MUST BE FLEXIBLE WITH WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS, WEEKEND REQUIREMENT WILL BE BASED ON UNIT NEEDS. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT.
If candidates have IN/Compact license in hand or have submitted their fingerprint application package then they are eligible to apply

Shift Requirements: 4×12 or 3×12
***Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract
***Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources.
Certification Requirements: ACLS and BCLS
Unit Info26 bed, mixed acuity unit. 15 of our beds are PCU, and 11 are Medsurg. We are an advanced pulmonary unit. Our primary patient population includes COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lung transplant (pre and post), tuberculosis, tracheostomies (including fresh tracheostomies), and stable trach-to-ventilator patients.Special Procedures/Unit Details2 years PCU experience preferred.Travelers will be placed into the floating rotation with the rest of the staff.Charge experience or willingness to train as charge is required.Staffing Ratios:PCU assignments are 1:4 and MedSurg assignments are 1:5-6, sometimes due to the skill set of the resource staff we receive, we may mix our MedSurg and PCU patients in an assignment of 4-5 patients as well.IMPORTANT- This unit has patients on ventilators. Nurses must be okay working on trach/vented patients to be on this unit. Previous ventilator/trach experience isn’t required; however, nurses must be okay and eager to train on these patients to be on this unit. This unit has unit based respiratory therapists that handle the ventilator weaning and adjusting of the settings. From a nursing standpoint, nurses caring for these patients know how to turn and mobilize them, suction them, and perform routine tracheostomy care. The nurses are not responsible for adjusting settings or weaning patients.
