Travel Medsurg/charge with possible float to ER RN is needed to start in a facility in North Dakota. ND or compact license is required. 2 years of experience is required. Certifications required are ACLS, BLS, and TNCC. PALS is preferred. Shifts are rotating D/N -7-7, every other weekend or every 3rd weekend plus rotating holidays. Block scheduling is a possible option. Medsurg—25 beds but 16 of them are long term swing bed patients—The other 9 beds are inpatients, outpatients, and skilled swing bed. Nurse to Patient Ratios in each of your units – Telemetry, Medsurg—3 nurses staffed for approximately 19 to 20 patients (one nurse with several CNAs takes care of the 10- 14 LTC swing beds. Telemetry - Do you have telemetry on your unit or in your department? Yes we have 4 patient telemetries What brand are the monitors? Philips Do nurses have to read & interpret strips? Yes Do you have monitor techs? NO Does you unit titrate any drips? Med surg—pain gtts for end of life, Heparin—occasionally, Diltiazem, Insulin, Nitro, Treatment gtts like Remicade, IgG, etc., TXA, tPa, fluids, Blood, platelets, etc. If so which ones? Are they set rate? Yes, mostly are set in a smart pump. Vents –Bipap, Cpap, or High Flow? No, just a portable ventilator for transport. Floating – They would work between med surg or ER/Float to med surg. EMR is Centriq—CSPI/Evident. Medication system is Pyxis. Travel ER RN is needed for 13 weeks to start ASAP in a facility in Iowa. Shifts consist of 7pm-7:30am with weekend rotation. The RN might also be asked to work some charge shifts. Charge Nurse: Provides leadership during assigned shift and interacts effectively with others to accomplish the requirements of patient care and administrative activities of assigned unit. Engages in anticipatory planning and generating solutions for clinical and operational issues. Act as a clinical resource, sharing knowledge, and assisting staff to complete their work. Anticipate patient needs, staffing requirements; engage in anticipatory planning and generating solutions for both clinical and operational issues on the unit. Coordinate multiple tasks in order to keep unit operations flowing. Provide leadership during assigned shift and interact effectively with others to accomplish the requirements of patient care and administrative activities. Certifications required are ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC. Number of beds - 21. Nurse to Patient Ratios - 4-5. The average daily census is 9. Traveler will not float. There might be some call but if there is it would be infrequent. EMR system used is Paragon. Medication system used - Pyxis. Pharmacy Tech - They have an after-hours pharmacy service. Type of discharge planning: The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the transitional plan of care. From admission to discharge. They should be comfortable having the initial case management assessment interview, provide transitional care follow up as the case/patient requires, ensure a safe discharge to the patient’s final destination from home to self-care to home with home health, skilled nursing facility, inpatient rehab, etc. We are looking for candidates who are highly skilled and are able to multitask, prioritize, document correctly and collaborate with our community partners/vendors. Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid/insurance coverage required?: No – But we benefit of knowing about the basic rules and regulations that govern acute inpatient case management like CMS, and CoP. It is helpful when they come with that knowledge, but if they need to learn, there’s resources for that. Providing mental health support/therapy and what would that look like?: No – There are specialized teams that work with that, they need to know to assess the case and determine which one is needed. Although, we have a high population of behavioral health cases, that we as nurses have to handle in collaboration with behavioral health facilities and specialists.
