At MedStar Franklin Square, we are a comprehensive stroke center. The role of the Neuro IR nurse is to circulate and support our stroke interventions, thrombectomies and diagnostic cerebral angiograms. We have a biplane room located near the ED that is state of the art technology and used to support these procedures. There is a neuro IR tech who will scrub in to assist the interventionalist, an advanced practice provider, and an anesthesiologist to support the case. After the case is completed, the RN will transport the patient with the anesthesiologist to ICU or PACU, therefore Critical Care experience is necessary.
The RN is responsible for IR procedures with on-call coverage; therefore, you may be called in to do an IR case. The IR call has a designated primary and secondary nurse to support, so a backup plan exits if there would be other emergencies. At AMN Healthcare we take care of our travelers! We offer:
