Job Overview: Los Angeles Jewish Health-Auerbach Geriatric Psychiatric Department, a leading acute inpatient geriatric psychiatric hospital, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Geriatric Psychiatric Program Manager to lead our dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing and enhancing the delivery of patient care and services within our geriatric psychiatric department. Responsibilities: " Leadership and Administration: " Provide visionary leadership to the geriatric psychiatric department, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. " Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the department to ensure efficient and effective patient care. " Collaborate with the Program Director to implement strategic initiatives and achieve departmental goals. " Patient Care Management: " Ensure that patient care meets or exceeds federal, state, and local standards, as well as hospital policies and procedures. " Supervise and evaluate the delivery of psychiatric care to elderly patients, addressing their unique emotional, social, and medical needs. " Work closely with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors to maintain the highest quality of care. " Staff Development: " Recruit, train, and mentor a skilled and compassionate team of psychiatric professionals. " Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional growth. " Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the department. " Regulatory Compliance: " Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, accreditation standards, and licensing requirements. " Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in geriatric psychiatric care. Qualifications: " Current license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in California. " Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership role, including the Charge Nurse role, within an acute care setting. " Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required. " Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training and certification required within six (6) months of hiring. " In-depth knowledge of psychiatric care, including familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards. " Strong interpersonal and communication skills. " Proven ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team. Requirements: " Ability to navigate and collaborate in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment. " Compassion and empathy for the unique needs of elderly individuals with psychiatric conditions. " Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. " Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations. " Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language. Physical and Sensory Requirements: " Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday. " Coping with the mental and emotional stress of the position. " Adequate vision and hearing or use of prosthetics to fulfill job requirements. " Meet general health requirements set forth by the facility. " Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds. " Assistance in the evacuation of patients/residents during emergency situations. Working Conditions: " Dynamic work environment within an acute inpatient geriatric psychiatric hospital. " Regular interactions with patients, families, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals. " Participation in ongoing professional development opportunities. " Physical activity involving sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and intermittent movement during working hours. " Potential exposure to emotionally upset or potentially violent situations. " Potential call back during emergency conditions. " Handling hazardous materials and exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and other air contaminants.
