About the Unit Patient Population:Patient population includes general med/surg adult patients, cardiac patients on antiarrhythmic drips, neuro patients post-TIA/CVA. RNs maintain antiarrhythmic medication drips, insulin drips for DKA, and perform NIHSS. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed at this time.Holiday time off is not guaranteed. Equipment and/or software used in the department: Remote and wall mount telemetry, bladder scanner, vein light, iPop, Epic charting software Bed size/number of rooms: 18 bed unitNurse to patient ratio: 1:4-6 Dress code: hunter green scrubs The Admission Unit (AU) is a fast-paced 18 bed unit that serves stable adult medical/surgical and cardiac patient populations. Our hybrid patient population is comprised of Inpatient, Observation and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) patients who arrive from the ED or as direct admits from physician offices/regional facilities and receive care from our Internal Medicine teams. We have a small subset of patients (CDU) who remain under the care of the ED physician overnight and receive stress testing in the morning. The AU staff work closely with a multidisciplinary group of providers and take pride in delivering episodic patient-family centered care while focusing on facilitating discharges and throughput to decompress the ED.
