Wonders of Aloe Vera

Did you know that there are more than 75 nutrients contained in the gel inside the leaves of the aloe vera plant? Folic acid, choline, B6, B3, E, A, C, B1, beta-carotene and many more. Nineteen of the 20 amino acids we require. There are also digestive enzymes, lipase and amylase, in this miraculous plant. Aloe has been used traditionally for thousands of years. It is naturally antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory.

Travel nurses and professional healthcare travelers are always in need of a good staple that is available anywhere and can be used for multiple purposes. I personally always have an aloe plant growing in or around my house to treat burns immediately. When caring for my elderly mother we found that aloe vera juice helped her digestive issues much more than anything else, even the prescriptions provided by her doctor. She would have a few sips of aloe juice and it would take away the burning and pain in her stomach instantly.

Aloe Vera can be used topically on burns and acne and shows great results in most cases. It has also been used for hair loss, hemorrhoids, and sinusitis. It’s also a great help in relieving the pain and itch of insect bites and helps heal bruising as well. Many people use aloe home remedies for multiple skin issues including dry skin.

Aloe Vera can even be used as a mouth rinse and has proven more effective than most mouthwashes on the market. It reduces dental plaque and kills the bacterium that produes the plaque. It can also be used to reduce the size of canker sores and mouth ulcers while accelerating the healing at the same time.

So many uses for an easy to grow plant. Just another helpful tip for all you busy healthcare travelers and travel nurses. Keep on truckin!
