Happy Thanksgiving to All!

We here at HealthCareTravelers.com and JobsForNurses.com hope that you can take some time to slow down on Thanksgiving and be grateful for all you have in your life and all the great aspects of our lives here in America. We all have so much to be thankful for and it will make you feel better if you take a minute to sit down and think about all the things you have to be thankful for. Breathe and express your gratitude for all the goodness we each have, even in the strange time we are experiencing.

Most of us were taught the original Thanksgiving story in our youth, even though it wasn't called Thanksgiving by the Pilgrims from across the sea in Plymouth that November of 1621. The Wampanoag Indians and the Plymouth colonists shared an autumn harvest feast.

This day became known as Thanksgiving and was celebrated by individual states and colonies for more than 200 years before being proclaimed a national holiday by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 during the Civil War.

We celebrate this traditional American holiday on the fourth Thursday in November each year. Many families and friends gather together end enjoy a day of feasting and maybe some football. My children and I don't watch sports but we do like being together to play with the little kids and have music and fun. I encourage each of us to be grateful for all our blessings. Even though everyday life is rough sometimes and terrible things are happening around us, we still have much for which to be thankful.

As a child The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was a staple in my home. Now it is just about being with my wonderful family and spending time with them and the little ones who are growing much too fast. And, of course, we have lots of great food and awesome leftovers for the days after as well.

We hope you the travel nurses and professional healthcare travelers will take a few moments to slow down, breathe and express gratitude for all your blessings. Know that you are appreciated for giving your patients the best care you can. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at HCEN!
