Fun Fall Festivals

Travel nurses and professional healthcare travelers can plan ahead and be in the area to attend a fun fall festival this year. Do you have any great ideas for fall destinations as a traveler. Here are a few fall festivals of all sorts that you can plan to attend if you just get on the stick and get your travel assignment lined up.

The National Apple Harvest Festival runs for two weekends this October, 5-6 and 12-13, 2019. This festival is held each year in the heart of Pennsylvania Apple country, a few miles from historic Gettysburg in Biglerville, PA. Do you love a Maine lobster? Maine in October is a great destination as it is also peak leaf peeping season. The Harvest on the Harbor Festival in mid-October brings as many as 5,000 people to Portland to enjoy Maine’s finest locally sourced foods, top chefs and other Maine-made products like wine and beer. Over 250 restaurants participate in this festival each fall.

Santa Fe, New Mexico hosts its annual Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta  from September 22 through the 29th this fall. This festival celebrates the deep-rooted traditions of Santa Fe cuisine which involves a lot of chiles. More than 70 of Santa Fe’s best restaurants are featured as well as 90 national wineries. There are wine and food tastings, cooking demonstrations and of course special luncheons and dinner.

How about the Arizona Taco Festival for some fall fun? This festival is in Scottsdale Arizona on October 12 and 13 of 2019. In 2009 the Arizona Taco Festival created the first ever taco festival in the world. The famous Tequila Expo features over 100 tequilas for guests to sample. This is the official Delaware State Official Fiddler’s Festival and this year it happens October 25-27 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Sea Witch Costume Contest, Costumed Dog Parade and the statewide Fiddler’s Festival to mention a few of the activities you can enjoy.

The annual Scarecrow Harvest happens in Alpharetta, Georgia this year on October 5. The downtown streets will be lined with more than 100 scarecrows celebrating fall. Free family entertainment including country music, hay rides, face painting, historical demos and much more.

2019 marks the 71st year for the Floral Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii and includes a colorful procession of pau horseback riders and lots of floats made with Hawaiian flowers and of course plenty of Hawaiian music.

In Louisiana the oldest agricultural festival starts on October 17 and runs through the 20th this year. It is the 82nd International Rice Festival. This annual festival is held in downtown Crowley, La and is one of the largest festivals in the state. This festival brings attention to the importance of rice and emphasizes it’s place in the world economic picture.

The Macedon Lumberjack Festival in Macedon, New York has an amateur lumberjack competition and includes two-man cross cut, log rolling, fire starting and even ax throwing. There is a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids too. This year the fun can be had on the weekend of September 7 and 8.
