Summer Time!

Yep, it’s here and full tilt with record temperatures scorching the northwestern region of the US. Many of the places experiencing the records temperatures right now don’t even have air conditioning. Well, I remember those days. Growing up in Florida without AC was rough, but we didn’t know any better. Now it’s considered a necessity in most places.

So, the key is to stay hydrated and limit your outdoor activities to the cooler times of day, like early morning or late evening. I live in West Texas now and the hottest part of the day here is usually from 5-7pm, which is strange to me….but we of course live and learn.

I do believe that some sun exposure is good for you. It’s the natural way your body obtains Vitamin D which is so important to our immune system and our overall health. Just don’t overdo it. I know, easier said than done. I can do about an hour in the sun and then I either cover up with cotton clothes or get out of the sun. But I hope that you will take some time to enjoy the sun safely, as it is so good for your overall health.

And, of course, the professional healthcare travel industry is still booming and there is really no end in sight. And, travel nurses and professional healthcare travelers make top dollar and receive great perks and benefits. Covid is still raging, even though so many are vaccinated now across America. And the stress of having to worry about Covid only adds to the many stressors already in our lives every day.

So, please take a minute for yourself at some point this summer. Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated and make sure you get a safe amount of sunshine!
