The pediatric intensive care RN collaborates with families, physicians, and other healthcare officials to determine the best course of patient care and recovery. Provide care for children and adolescents, usually up to the age of 18, with life-threatening or high-acuity conditions that require constant monitoring. Prioritize careful monitoring of patients, and reports regularly to the pediatrician, and family on the patient's condition, and what they can expect in recovery. Surgical complications: Total Joints (knees, hips etc), General MS, Appendicitis, colectomies, small bowel, Urology (turp, cysto),
Patient’s with addictions in addition to other medical issues
Pediatric patients that have to stay overnight after surgery (Rare)
Patient Ratios:
1:3 – acuity based
Required Certifications:

Skills required:
Charge RN experience and willingness to act as Charge – as often as is needed. Please decline travelers without this experience/if they are unwilling to do this
Chest tubes, traches, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, Epidurals (rare), CVP, A-Line care/blood draws
Insulin gtts, cardiac gtts
Nursing Reading and Interpreting Strips for ICU and MSU
