Many Benefits of Lemongrass

Lemongrass is one of many natural remedies that can be used for multiple purposes and help you alleviate the need for pharmaceuticals and over the counter medicines. Plant remedies have been widely used by humans for millenia and most can be grown right in your backyard or on your windowsill at home.

Lemongrass has antifungal and antibacterial properties and can fight body odor naturally. You can use diluted lemongrass essential oil as natural deodorant with none of the nasty side effects of the deodorant sold in all stores nationwide.

You can treat oily hair with a few drops of diluted essential oil by massaging it into your scalp and letting it sit for 15 minutes prior to washing it as you normally would.

The essential oil of lemongrass can also be used to relieve muscle and joint pain, muscle spasms and sprains and even headaches. You can apply the diluted essential oil topically or inhale it by using a diffuser in your room. You can also make a tea of lemongrass or infuse it into water for the same benefits. Lemongrass tea or lemongrass infused water can also help with gastrointestinal issues as it has anti-ulcer effects, help regulate bowel function and even stimulates digestion.

An energizing concoction can be made with lemongrass essential oil and 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts for your tired feet, or you can make a foot massage oil by using a few drops of essential oil mixed with a carrier oil. I use coconut oil as a carrier for lots of different mixtures with essential oils for a variety of different things and it would work great for this too.

Diffusing a few drops of lemongrass oil in your room can help relieve irritability, stress, anxiety and can even help with insomnia.

Diluted lemongrass essential oil can be used to treat scrapes or cuts as it has antibiofilm properties against many germs and interrupts the growth of bacteria in the body.

Lemongrass infused water or a lemongrass tea can help improve your sleep if you drink a little bit right before bed.

These are just a few of the many ways your can use this great natural product. And, here’s a real good one if you live in a buggy climate like I do. If you grow lemongrass outside in big pots it will help to repel those nasty, biting insects.

Safe travels and we hope these tips provide you some great information that you can apply to your everyday, hectic life.
