Alkalize your Diet

Do you know the difference in alkaline and acid as far as your body is concerned? Well, it turns out the more acid your body is the more likely that you will develop chronic disease, which we all know is far too prevalent in our world. But I was never taught what foods and drinks are acid producing in your body and which ones are alkaline producing. I recently had a bout of sickness and discovered a great book that a friend recommended. It’s called Alkalize Or Die and it is by Dr. Theodore A Haroody.

It is very informative and has given me so much information regarding this subject. It turns out one of the most alkalizing things you can do for your body is drink lemon water. I now start each day with a big glass of water containing the juice of at least one lemon. I juice a whole bag of lemons at a time and put the juice in ice cube trays and freeze them. Then I only need to add one to my morning glass of water each day and start the day out with a good dose of alkalinity.

All foods can be broken down as to which they produce in your body, alkaline or acid. The goal for optimum health would be to eat 80% alkaline producing foods and 20% acid producing foods each day. Most fruits are alkaline producing except: cranberries, blueberries, plums and prunes. Most vegetables are alkaline producing for your body. But the closer to their natural state the more alkaline producing they are for your body. When you do anything like cooking, freezing, canning or alter these foods their alkalinity value greatly decreases.

But it’s food for thought. I have found this book very interesting and informative and it will definitely influence my food choices. Needless to say most animal products are acid producing for your body, as we could have guessed. Just providing some information and maybe you would like to research it more for yourself. Very eye opening information for sure.
