Multi-Vitamins - Yes or No

Do you take multi-vitamins every day? I know I sure do. I cannot rely on my diet to provide all the vitamins and minerals I need. I take multi-vitamins plus a few in addition to them.

It is true that most experts agree that if you are a “normal” healthy adult and eat a balanced diet every day you should not need a multi-vitamin. Well, I don’t know about you, but I guarantee that I don’t eat a balanced diet every day no matter how hard I try. I eat healthy but sometimes with our busy schedules and crazy life, it’s hard to adhere to a strict regime.

There have only been a few studies on the specific benefits to your health of a daily dose of multi-vitamins. I would want to add that the variety of multi-vitamins available today can be overwhelming. I have done some research in my case and stick to an all natural course of vitamins and stay away from most of the big names.

Most of us are interested in staying healthy and keeping our immune system in top notch shape. And, of course, the experts will tell you if you think you have a deficiency in your diet, then make improvements there first. But they also mostly agree that there is no harm in taking a multi-vitamin if you think your diet is lacking in certain areas. I would also say do some research and find one that is safe or buy a small bottle first and see how you feel after a couple of weeks. Experts do warn not to take too much of vitamins A or E, as those can actually be harmful if you do take high doses.
